Detergents & surfactants

Regulation (EU) 2026/405 was adopted on 11 February 2026 and replaces Regulation (EC) 648/2004. It makes the DPP and digital labelling mandatory for detergents and surfactants, while keeping critical safety information on physical labels.

Progi i wyłączenia

  • Critical safety information (dosage, allergens, emergency handling) must remain on physical labels to protect allergic consumers and those without digital access.
  • Companies may choose either physical or digital labels for non-critical information.
  • Professional-use products follow a distinct labelling pathway.
  • Smaller producers benefit from simplified formats.

Otwarte kwestie

  • Full alignment of the detergent DPP with the CIRPASS reference model.
  • Minimum language requirements across physical and digital channels per Member State.
  • Treatment of paints and lubricants — currently outside the Detergents Regulation scope, pending future coverage under ESPR.
