Data model

The Foundation does not publish its own data model. We curate and cross-reference the work of CIRPASS, CEN-CENELEC and ISO. This page is a map to the authoritative sources.

Reference model

CIRPASS is the EU-funded consortium that produced the horizontal DPP reference model under Digital Europe. It defines a JSON-LD schema with a published @context covering identity, manufacturer, composition, sustainability and lifecycle.

Sector extensions

  • Batteries: data model profile aligned with the Battery Regulation Annex XIII.
  • Construction products: profile aligned with EN 15804 EPDs and the DoP.
  • Automotive (Catena-X): data space data model for battery and automotive components.
  • Textiles, electronics, furniture: expected to publish with the respective delegated acts.

Versioning

CIRPASS recommends semantic versioning of the schema and the published context. Breaking changes bump the major version and publish a new context URL. Consumers are expected to resolve the context declared in each DPP and support at least the current major version plus one previous.

Where Foundation guidance differs

We encourage early adopters to align schema field names with CIRPASS even before a sector delegated act is final. The cost of migrating field names later is material; the cost of mapping values once the model is stable is modest.
